Limitations

  • Browsers. Renders run on one thread, in a worker (see In the browser). Browsers and Node are the runtimes supported; edge runtimes are not.
  • Drawing. SVG text on a path and vertical SVG text are not supported. SVG filters are not applied, and an SVG only shows images embedded as data: URLs (see Drawing).
  • Content taller than a page. What cannot split (an Image, a float, an absolutely positioned, rotated or transformed element, table rows tied by a rowSpan) is cut at the page edge when it is taller than a page.
  • Tailwind. Variants (md:, hover:), shadows and gradients are not supported.
  • Output. The engine produces the whole PDF at once: renderToStream streams the finished file, it does not send pages while later ones are still being laid out.
